Unasked-for advice

When setting up a business, often well-meaning people will give you unsolicited advice. You know, remarks like: "Oh, how are you going to make money with this? Aren’t there already so many others doing the same? Or worse, when they just say… "Interesting."

It makes you feel insecure, and your thoughts start to race: "Why am I starting this? Who is waiting for me? Will I make money with it? Why should I start it anyway?"

STOP!

These thoughts will bring you nowhere. You have a drive, a dream. Yes, there are others who do the same what you want to do. But…, it is not yet done by you!

Before you started with your idea, you knew there were others. Still, you felt the need to pursue your idea. You truly believe you need to this, because it isn’t done your way yet. You make the difference with why and how you do it.

Most business focus on what they do, making them sound identical. It doesn’t evoke an emotion or feeling. People are inspired by why and how you do something, not just what you do.

These remarks and questions are worthwhile when you’re refining your idea. But you need to strengthen yourself before letting the outside world in. The most important thing is to anchor your idea in yourself. You can tweak and adjust the outside, your business model, the way you do things. But nurture your belief and let it shine through in everything you do.
